Suzanne Bakker: How Juventus could shape up with her at the helm
Amidst all of the international and domestic stories on the field over the last seven days came the news of another managerial departure, with Joe Montemurro vacating his position as head coach of Juventus after just under three years at the helm.
It is a partnership that has delivered one Serie A title and two Coppa Italia trophies, but it has also been a time that has seen Juventus lose ground to Roma and become the leading chasers rather than the dominant power in the Italian game. For that reason, his departure was perhaps expected, but that didn’t mean that it wasn’t a surprise when it was announced, particularly with it seeing him leave with immediate effect and not at the end of the campaign.
It has not taken long for rumours to begin to circulate as to who will take over from him, and the leading contender at this moment in time would appear to be Suzanne Bakker, who is currently in charge of Ajax but who will leave them when their season reaches its conclusion.
It would be an ambitious appointment for Juventus to make, given that she is regarded by some as one of the brightest coaches in the women’s game, but it could be one that really pays off in the long term if they were able to secure her services.

When looking back at Juventus’ season so far, it is important to point out that things have not been all bad, with them putting on several strong performances and winning 14 of their 18 regular season games, losing just three.
