How Wolfsburg could set up to limit Barcelona's key threats in the Champions League final
On paper, the 2022/2023 Champions League final looks to be a very close affair, with Barcelona and Wolfsburg unquestionably two of the best sides in Europe and among those expected to reach the latter stages of the competition every year.
However, in practice, this is not actually as close as some might expect, with the fact that Barcelona ended the season with a league title and just one defeat and Wolfsburg tailed off towards the end of their campaign, allowing Bayern Munich to lift the trophy, making the Spanish side the more in-form side and the one that many are expecting to be victorious on Saturday afternoon.
This is not to say that Wolfsburg will be a pushover for Jonatan Giráldez’s team though, and they should not have their chances written off entirely. On the contrary, they have a chance of controlling this final if they play the right way, and getting a few key details right structurally and tactically could help them to spring a surprise.
